SCUBA Divers for Aquatic Invasive Species Control

The Lake Leelanau Lake Association (LLLA) is looking to contract experienced SCUBA divers to join its dive team to assist in remediating, controlling, and monitoring aquatic invasive species, specifically, Eurasian watermilfoil (EWM) and Curly-leaf pondweed. Divers will report to the Association’s Dive Team Leader and Lake Biologist. The dive teams work daily with dedicated field technicians who drive the boats and support the divers. The workday normally consists of two dives per day with a lunch break in between. Must be a certified diver.

  • $25/hour, approximately 7 hours/day, 3 days/week for 10 weeks
  • Regular Schedule: Start: June 16, End: August 22, Monday-Friday (weather dependent)
  • Local housing options are available, with the possibility of other work to cover room and board and for additional pay

Aquatic Invasive Species Field Technician and Data Manager

LLLA is hiring a seasonal Field Technician and Data Manager to assist in remediating, controlling, and monitoring aquatic invasive species (AIS), specifically, Eurasian watermilfoil and Curly-leaf pondweed. The technician will assist in the planning and execution of the weekly field work plan and be responsible for supporting the day-to- day operations and data management. The technician will report to the Association’s Lake Biologist and Dive Team Leader. Experience driving a boat is required, along with the relevant certifications (boater safety certificate, dependent on age). Preference will be given to those who have the potential and interest to continue in this role for multiple summers.

  • $25/hour, approximately 7 hours/day, 5 days/week for 10 weeks
  •  Regular Schedule: Start: June 16*, End: August 22, Monday-Friday (weather dependent)
    *possibility to start training before June 16, if available.

Boat Cleaning Staff

The Lake Leelanau Lake Association (LLLA) is hiring seasonal employees to staff our boat cleaning stations. Staff will report directly to the LLLA Boat Cleaning Manager. The work schedule is primarily during the summer, but some additional hours will be requested for training prior to the season.

  • $20/hour, approximately 6 hours/day on Fridays and Sundays and 8 hours/day on Saturdays for 18-weeks (weather and schedule dependent)
  • Regular Schedule*: Start: Memorial Day Weekend End: Late September *Note that some pre-season hours are requested for training.
  • Local housing options are available with the possibility of other work to cover room and board and for additional pay
