As a Business Supporter, you become a crucial partner in our efforts to:
- Prevent Invasive Species: The cost to control invasive species is significant and we can’t do it without your help. LLLA’s team of staff and volunteers work tirelessly to protect Lake Leelanau from threats such as Eurasian watermilfoil, which kills the food and shelter fish need. As a result, there are now 17 sites that are currently EWM-free. Additionally, to help the community prevent the spread of invasive species, LLLA operates four boat cleaning stations at boat launches around the lake.
- Involve Our Community: Informative newsletters and community outreach programs empower lake users with best practices for lake stewardship. Our volunteer program is growing. Last year, LLLA volunteers logged 750 hours boat washing, filling bags with pea gravel to weigh down burlap to kill EWM, surveying for new aquatic invasive species, taking water quality samples, and helping with events and membership activities.
- Support Conservation Efforts: Our shoreline restoration initiatives help maintain the natural beauty and vital habitat of Lake Leelanau. We estimate that around 1.62 miles of shoreline will be improved on Lake Leelanau as a result of these efforts.
