Kids’ Fishing Day 2016
What a day! We estimate over 700 people attended the 12th annual Kids’ Fishing Day at Veronica Valley on Sunday, June 26th. This is a day where kids can successfully learn about fishing and how much fun it can be. Over the years we have added an amazing “hands-on” nature display featuring all kinds of live native Michigan turtles, frogs, snakes, and fish.

On the Move with Swimmer’s Itch
On June 22, 2016, a significant event occurred here in our backyard. The Michigan Swimmers Itch Partnership (MSIP), in conjunction with SICON, LLC. presented a conference specifically pointed at the problem of swimmer’s itch. Experts from the United States, Canada gathered to discuss and explain their research and attempts at dealing with the swimmer’s itch problem.

Swimmer’s Itch Meeting
On Thursday June 23, 2016, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Lake Association will host another meeting concerning our “Swimmer’s Itch” (SI) Initiative. The formation of a committee and fund raising will be discussed as well as a Q&A on the SICON program that begins in July. The meeting will be held at the Leland Library.

Boater Safety Class

Boater Safety Class 2016
- Boater Safety Class for boaters who will be at least 12 years old by the end of the boating season.
- Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 9a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Leelanau County Court House, E. Government Center Drive, Suttons Bay.
- Class will start promptly at 9 a.m. There is no charge for the course, and the only requirement is that participants come with a positive attitude and a desire to be a safe boater.
